Northland Area Federal Credit Union will be collecting nonperishable food items for the month of November to benefit local food pantries. If you’d like to donate, please drop off your nonperishable food items at one of our branches.
Goodwill Northern Michigan - Patriot Place $15,000 Donation
On International Credit Union Day, Northland Area Federal Credit Union is proud to support the important work of Goodwill Northern Michigan - Patriot Place. As the Elan Charitable Giving recipient, they will receive a $15,000 donation to help provide housing and support services for homeless Veterans. Patriot Place is Northern Michigan’s only Veterans transitional housing community for Veterans experiencing homelessness. At Patriot Place, Veterans receive support and stability before moving to permanent housing. We're grateful to Elan Credit Card and the Elan Charitable Giving Foundation for their partnership in making this possible.
Oscoda Branch Upgrade
Northland is pleased to announce that our Oscoda Branch will be getting an upgrade! Coming soon, Northland will be making substantial improvements to the Oscoda branch. These improvements provide space for a new and refreshing branch, complete with teller pods, several private offices to meet with members, and a new drive-up area suitable for a variety of vehicle sizes. - Archived eStatements: Enjoy access to two years of archived statements. Please note, two years of archived statements are only available to current digital banking members.
These changes will be in effect for May 2024 statements. This upgrade is part of our commitment to providing a more efficient and seamless digital banking experience.

With Fraud being at an all time high, it is important to educate our members over the most popular scam and fraud tactics used by scammers today. We are excited to introduce a ten week video series called Fraud Fridays. Each video discusses a different scam topic and gives tips on how to protect yourself. Northland Earns 2023 CUNA Louise Herring Award
Northland has earned second place for the 2023 Cuna Louise Herring Award at the state level. The Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action, Member Service award, promotes credit union philosophy by recognizing credit unions that demonstrate the practical application of that philosophy for their members in an extraordinary way. With fraud and scams at an all-time high, Northland launched the “Friends Never Ask Friends” campaign to help educate members about fraud. The campaign was designed to help members avoid fraud and recognize scam trends.

Buck E. Bigfoot
Buck E. Bigfoot and his woodland friends are here to help teach kiddos about money! In our new coloring and activity book at each branch, kids can learn how to save, earn, and spend money.
Buck E. is from West Branch but visits all around Northern Michigan. He enjoys saving money, keeping the planet and water clean, and the company of his woodland friends. He is constantly shedding coins from his fur! If you see money on the ground, it’s a sure sign that he is around. His nemesis is Scammer Skunk and Foolish Fox. They are both trouble makers and prevent people from saving money.

Reed City and Evart Grand Opening
On Thursday, January 26th, 2023, Reed City and Evart branches had their Grand Opening! Free giveaways, food, and large raffle prizes were a part of the celebration. Northland expanded its field of membership to Michigan’s western and northern lower counties. The National Credit Union Administration approved the expansion in 2022.
Pete Dzuris, President and CEO of Northland said, "With so many eservice banking options currently available, expanding our services to the western and Northern lower counties makes sense. As we see many big banks leaving rural areas, Northland sees an opportunity to serve the need of our members and underbanked in those areas." . Northland is pleased to serve 27 counties with 16 branches.
